Communicating Equity & Healing Justice (CEHJ) Research Lab

CEHJ foregrounds both interdisciplinary and equitable health communication research, development, and dissemination within the contexts of public and community health.

CEHJ's mission is:
  1. Translation of health research into prevention and intervention efforts
  2. Promotion of health equity through sustainable community outreach
  3. Fostering resilience through shared storytelling and advocacy

In particular, the CEHJ research lab primarily focuses on the communication of equity and healing through intersectional investigations of identities, racism, its mechanisms, and health risks/outcomes for Black women. We are most interested in promoting Black women's agency,  at the heart of our health communication strategies and methods. We also seek opportunities to share our research in efforts to improve access to and engagement with quality healthcare, including provider communication, to reduce the burden of health disparities that weigh on diverse populations of Black women across generations in America.

The CEHJ Research Lab is committed to building community-based and interdisciplinary collaborations with diverse community members, faculty, and other stakeholders to better understand and promote Black women's health.
