What classes or activities were you involved in during your time at Mason that impacted you?
My favorite classes were GLOA 101 and FREN 390. The activities that impacted me the most were becoming the president of the Omicron Iota chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, learning French and Wolof in Senegal through the Boren scholarship, and studying abroad in Costa Rica this past spring semester. I also love my job as the Student Transition Empowerment Program Student Support Coordinator in the First-Gen + Center. I also founded my own organization after being a part of Student Government called the Student Career Achievement Network (SCAN). Also, a meaningful research opportunity was learning about the Black community in Fairfax through the Black Lives Next Door Summer Impact Project (BLND).
Did you have a favorite CHSS class or professor?
My favorite class was Anthropology 331 Refugees.
What is your most memorable moment at Mason?
My most memorable moment was when I studied abroad for the first time through the Fact Finders Trip with Mason Hillel in January 2020.
What is your next step? What are your future plans?
I received a fellowship to attend the Elliott School of International Affairs at George Washington University.
As you are reflecting on your time at Mason, what is one piece of advice you would give a student who is just starting off on their Mason journey?
My advice would be to take time to find your interests. Mason has so many offices and opportunities on campus that can fund and enrich your interests if you take the time to utilize them! Also, don't be afraid to try something new or by yourself!
